Beach Volleyball: We’ll make Gambia Proud – Amadou Jarju

The first-ever African Beach Games is currently underway in the Cape Verdean island of Sal, off the coast of West Africa.

The island is hosting a major multi-sports event for the first time with approximately one thousand athletes participating from June 14 to 23, 2019.

The Gambia beach volleyball team’s priority at the maiden edition of the African Beach Games is to leave an everlasting mark in the country’s beach volleyball history, according to head coach Pa Barrow.

Captain Amadou Jarju says the team is focused on winning and establishing a record in the competition saying: “This is the first of its kind in Africa and our goal is to make our country proud by bringing back medals and creating records, so that people can follow volleyball.

The Gambia beach volleyball team will arrive on Sunday in Sal and the beach volleyball competition begins on Tuesday June 18th 2019.
