The Gambia women’s national team were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Guinea-Bissau’s women’s national team in their first friendly opener at the Independence Stadium on Sunday.

The Gambia took the lead through Adama Tamba in what was a cool finish from the country’s all-time women’s record goal scorer just before the break but Bissau came from behind to level through Tchalda Man.

Bissau’s women’s national team coach Sidico Queita was delighted with his team’s performance while the Gambia’s gaffer Mariama ‘Bom’ Sowe was unsatisfied with her team’s performance after squandering their chances.

The two sides will face off for the second time again on Tuesday at 8pm at the Independence Stadium to bring an end to the friendly matches.
