Ceesay seals winner as Zürich push for Europa spot

Scorpions striker Assan Ceesay guided FC Zürich one step closer to securing a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League qualifiers after scoring the winning goal in their 3-0 victory over FC Thun on Wednesday.

The Gambia international scored his 5th goal of the season as the club from the largest city in Switzerland claimed their second consecutive win.

Benjamin Kololli opened the scoring in the 31st minute from the penalty spot before Nigerian Stephen Odey doubled the lead four minutes.

Former Gamtel and FC Lugano striker Ceesay sealed the victory nine minutes before half-time to wrap up the commanding first-half performance from Zürich.

The win ensured that Zürich are fourth on the log with 43 points from 34 games with two matches to spare.
