Njie nets as Boavista shock Braga

Scorpions forward Yusupha Njie fired in his fourth goal of the season for Boavista who secured a 4-3 triumph over UEFA Europa League chasing Sporting Braga.

Portugal’s two most emblematic clubs went head-to-head at the Estádio do Bessa Século XXI in Porto with visiting Braga going ahead after just five minutes before the hosts cancelled it out through Nwankwo Obiora minutes later.

The visitors’ reply was prompt as Wilson Eduardo pulled his side back in front in the 26th minute via the penalty spot but Boavista’s turnaround was also timely, equalising firstly through Yusupha Njie before two extra goals handed them their third consecutive win of the season in which the Gambian has found the back of the net in all three occasions.

The 25-year-old, who was kept on the sidelines with an injury for nearly a year, is on a revival spree and is looking to better his four goals scored last season.

The former Real de Banjul and FUS Rabat attacker was lined up to make a switch to French side Stade de Reims last summer but complications marred the deal leading to its collapse.
