Barrow nets as Reading winless home streak goes on

Gambia forward Modou Barrow scored his ninth goal of the campaign for Championship strugglers Reading who were held to a 1-1 draw by Bolton Wanderers at Madejski Stadium to extend their winless home streak to eight games on Tuesday evening.

Reading, now without a win in eight home matches, went ahead shortly after the half-hour mark through Mo Barrow. The Scorpions wideman made a brilliant solo run to finish from the left wing but Bolton drew level just before the interval.

The 25-year-old needs to score just two more goals this season to have Reading’s highest return for a winger in a single season in the 21st century.

Barrow, who became the only Gambian player to score in the Premier League, is enjoying his best run since moving to England.

Reading are now five points above the drop zone with 35 points after 35 matches.

Elsewhere, Mustapha Carayol had to be ejected after 25 minutes due to injury in Ipswich Town’s 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Ipswich lie 12th on the standing with 51 points, seven behind Middlesbrough, who occupy the final play-off place.
