Sumareh inspires Pahang to first league win

Gambian striker Mohamadou ‘Muhammed’ Sumareh inspired Pahang FA to their first league victory of the season guiding them to a 3-0 win over Kelantan.

Pahang had not scored in their opening two Malaysian Super League matches, being held 0-0 at home to Perak on the opening day before a 1-0 defeat away to PKNS.

But Sumareh put up a Man of the Match performance and was the liveliest player on the pitch assisting in Pahang’s opener.

He registered his name on the score sheet after 54 minutes before they put the icing on the cake in the 88th minute to secure their first win of the season.

The win takes them to sixth on the standings with four points and will hope to extend their winning streak when they visit Selangor FA at the weekend.

Elsewhere in Malaysia’s second-tier, Sanna Nyassi’s Pulau Pinang also recorded their first win of the campaign, cruising 2-1 over UKM FC.

Sanna’s Pinang relegated after a disastrous campaign in the Super League last season.
