Barrow nets first Serie A goal for Atalanta

Gambian teenager Musa Barrow scored his first goal in the Italian Serie A to help Atalanta win 3-0 at bottom-placed side Benevento on Wednesday.

Barrow, who had been given his first start against Inter Milan this past weekend, was brought on at halftime and the 19-year-old doubled Atalanta’s lead four minutes later after being set up to send the visitors two points behind AC Milan, occupying the final UEFA Europa League place.

Gambia to face Guinea Conakry in WAFU opener

The Gambia U20 will open its 2018 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) campaign with a game against Guinea Conakry next Wednesday.

The game, set to be played at the 35,000-capacity Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia, will see the Junior Scorpions open their account with their counterparts from Conakry on April 25 with the match kicking off at 18:00GMT before they face neighbors Senegal two days later.

Ali Sowe vying for golden boot in Albania

The title race might be over in Albania but the battle to win the 2017/18 golden boot is definitely on as Gambia international Ali Sowe fired in his fourteenth goal of the season in Skënderbeu Korçë’s 3-2 win over FC Kamza at the weekend.

Sowe is currently one of four players at the top of the scoring charts in Albania vying for the golden boot.

Tijan Jaiteh’s Al-Markhiya relegated from Qatari league

Gambia midfielder Tijan Jaiteh and his Al-Markhiya Sports Club have been relegated from the Qatar Stars League after just one season in the country’s top-flight.

Al-Markhiya endured a difficult campaign in the Qatari top-tier after succumbing to 13 defeats with only two wins in 22 outings, garnering just 13 points in the process.
