Gambia survives Djibouti scare to qualify to AFCON group stage qualifiers

The Gambia survived a scare against visiting Djibouti by securing a dramatic 3-2 victory on penalties in the second leg of the final game in the preliminary round qualifiers of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday evening.

The game, played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, saw the Scorpions clawing back to draw 1-1 for the second time in five days with the country located in the Horn of Africa, leaving both sides deadlocked at 2-2 on aggregate.
